i wandered into here and it turned out to be a HAPPY ACCIDENT. the staff are so lovely and helpful. i didn’t really know where to start at first, but if you tell them a couple examples of things that you like, they can pull recommends and let you listen on their record players. will be back!!
This place was awesome! The record selection was wide and high quality. They also had a great selection of slip mats. Scored some cool glow in the dark black and white ones. Also got the Pac Man duo. The employee really knew his stuff as well! Can't wait to go back!
Great selection of House music, atmosphere, and employees. The only downside is the hours of operation, but worth popping in if you can are into Vinyls.
Newly interested in exploring electronic music, was in the area, and decided to stop in to buy a record. A lot of the time I'll get turned on to new music from band camp daily articles or by reading interviews with artists I already like to find their influences and give 'em a listen. Anyway while the internet is a great way to find new music I really think there isn't a substitute for a good record shop. With a few vague details on the genres I was interested in trying, the friendly and knowledgeable staff here gave me handful of records to try. It is truly a delight to be introduced to brand new music so perfectly up my alley. Like winning a scratch ticket or something.
The equipment for trying out new music is simple to use and performs well. I dig the technics, headphones, and onkyo amp set up, provides a nice, confident, and subtle warm vibe to the music.
TLDR; great record selection and staff to begin a vinyl journey into electronic music. I intend to come back to try some jazz and world music records next time. Come here. Fall in love with a new record and walk away feeling like a winner.
Great record store for house and hip hop! Solid selection of old and new, and super knowledgeable staff. Nice to have a listening station!
I had to give you no stars! Here I was 30 years ago- A new schooler shopping for some records and then next thing you know I was locked in a funeral parlor all night long.
Nice store with outstanding customer service. By the way, you might run into John Cusack searching for high fidelity sounds, for real!
One of the very few places I miss about Chicago. Plus they have listening stations. That isn't always the case at other record stores. At most times you gotta dig, dig and dig some more to find the stuff you like and if you give yourself enough time you'll walk out with some good, or even great finds. Hit the used sections first and go from there.
Update: Just completed my first mail order transaction and all went well. Got my order in the mail all the way out here on the west coast in just over a week. Awesome thanks!
